Measurement of Virucidal Activity of Textile Products
ISO 18184 is an International Standard used to measure the virucidal activity of textile products. The infographic below shows a brief insight of ISO 18184.

Step 1: Is your test sample a textile product?
This test method is suitable for all textile products that may include clothing, threads, home furnishing and more.
Step 2: Select your test microorganisms
These are no mandatory test viruses for this test however some of our popular viruses have been:
- Human coronavirus
- Influenza A virus (H3N2)
- Adenovirus
- Norovirus

Step 3: Did you know that the test method already has a contact time?
The pre-determined contact time in this test would be 2 hours. This can be changed according to manufacturer’s liking however the contact time should be no longer than 24 hours.
Step 4: Place an order and send your sample to us
Fill in the test request form and place an order via email at info@tecolab-global.com. We will advise on the sample specifications required for testing.
You can deliver the sample to us via courier and provide us the tracking code. We will monitor the delivery status and inform you when we receive the sample.
Step 5: Track the status of your request
Once we have received your sample, we will provide a tracking number to you. You can easily track the status of your request here.
Step 6: Download your password-protected test report
Download your readily available test report online with just a single click using the link and password provided via email notification. We will receive a notification once you have downloaded the test report.
For safety purposes, the uploaded test report will self-destruct after 7 days.
Step 7: Analyze your passing criteria in the test report with our laboratory experts
There is no specific passing criteria in this standard. The following information are solely to be used as reference information only:
- The efficacy of antiviral property can be considered good effect if the result difference between the control specimen and test specimen falls within a log reduction of ≥ 2 lg and 3 lg.
- The efficacy of antiviral property can be considered excellent effect if the result difference between the control specimen and test specimen is 3 lg and above.
